Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology at Lok Mahavidyalaya, Wardha has been functioning since 2022, offering Undergraduate (UG) education through the B.Sc. Microbiology programme. The department is committed to providing quality education and promoting the holistic development of students. It aims to develop students’ understanding of microorganisms, microbial diversity, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, biotechnology, environmental microbiology and industrial microbiology.

The Department undertakes various academic, co-curricular and practical learning activities to enhance students’ knowledge and skills. These include laboratory practicals, assignments, seminars, PowerPoint presentations, unit tests, project work and practice examinations. The Department also organizes industrial visits, workshops, guest lectures, awareness program and special lectures to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications of Microbiology.

Through these initiatives, the Department of Microbiology strives to develop Scientific Thinking, Laboratory Skills, Research Aptitude, Practical Knowledge, Critical Thinking and Career Readiness among students. The Department encourages students to understand the applications of microorganisms in healthcare, food, agriculture, pharmaceutical industries, biotechnology and environmental management.
