Department of Botany

The Department of Botany at Lok Mahavidyalaya Wardha has been functioning since 2022, offering Undergraduate (UG) education through the B.Sc. in Botany programme. The Department of Botany is committed to providing quality education in plant sciences and promoting the overall academic development of students. The department aims to develop students’ understanding of plant diversity, taxonomy, morphology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, biotechnology, and environmental science. It emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical learning to develop scientific aptitude and awareness among students.

The Department undertakes various academic, co-curricular, and practical learning activities to enhance students’ knowledge and skills. These include laboratory practicals, botanical excursions, field visits, herbarium preparation, seminars, student presentations, project work, workshops, and biodiversity-related activities. The department also conducts environmental awareness programmes, tree plantation activities, and other initiatives related to the conservation of plant resources.

Through these initiatives, the Department of Botany strives to develop scientific thinking, observation skills, practical competencies, research aptitude, environmental awareness, and career readiness among students. The department encourages students to pursue higher education and explore opportunities in research, education, biotechnology, environmental science, agriculture, conservation, and allied life-science fields.

The Department is guided by the valuable leadership and guidance of the Principal, Dr. Mahendra Sahare is supported by the Head of the Science Department and faculty members in achieving its academic and developmental objectives.
